Lake House Physio + Therapy is a state of the art wellness space located in the Cowichan Valley, British Columbia. This family owned business is welcoming, inclusive, and caters to the health of the community.

At Lake House, they take an individualized approach to your health, ensuring you receive the best care. They offer physiotherapy, IMS, and massage therapy services that are much needed in the area they serve.


The owners of Lake House came to me when their new facility was being built, looking for branding and a website to match their amazing business. The primary aesthetic of the physical business is modern, clean, and minimal, but comforting. They wanted their brand to have a welcoming feeling with nods to the community of Lake Cowichan.

Lake House Physio + Therapy was born out of the idea of a community space or “house” for residents to come and feel safe and comforted when seeking support for their health.

I knew they were pouring their heart and soul into this business to give the community a space to invest in their health and heal. My goal was to provide them with the tools to be successful in all aspects of their business through a brand with longevity that stands out among the competition. 



Once we met to discuss my clients’ needs in detail, I researched competitors in the wellness space, as well as businesses with clean, natural aesthetics.

Anything that felt “clinical’ was something that I stayed away from, as that is not the feeling that my clients wanted to portray to their patients.

I landed on a natural, clean, comforting mix of trees and natural stones. The colour palette stayed in the same realm with deep green, charcoal, off-white and beige.   


Starting with sketches, I formed a baseline of a primary logo, illustration, and additional brand logos. It is important to have a number of brand logos for use in a variety of areas across your business branding.

The Design: With nods to the lake that centers the community, I created a custom illustration and accented a custom font with waves running through the “A” and “H” letters of the brand name.

I accompanied the logo designs with an earthy, forest inspired colour palette and clean sans serif font to brings this comforting & modern brand to life. 


The branding identity design phase took approximately 8-10 weeks, with the strategy and research taking place first. Once the creative direction was approved, I presented a concept of logos to my clients for review.

There were minor updates, including a swap for a less playful primary brand font, that was simple, but still unique. With modifications to the “A” and “H” letters in “Lake House” I was able to create the flow both literally and metaphorically. The waves represent the lakeside community, as well as the flow and healing of the patients who seek to improve their health at Lake House Physio.

A personalized illustration of the community mountains, lake and trees helps the business stand out, while respecting the land and community it serves. The addition of a lettermark, emblem, and horizontal logo add variety.

Lake House Physio + Therapy was developed strategically to stand out and last long-term with a focus on providing a much needed resource in the community. They now have extensive brand guidelines, a logo suite for social media, web, and print, and a website that takes their brand experience to another level.
